2. Comments
When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to aid spam detection.
An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be shared with the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After comment approval, your profile picture is publicly visible within your comment.
3. Media
If you upload images to our website, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from images on the website.
4. Cookies
- If you leave a comment, you may opt to save your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies last for one year.
- If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie is set to check if your browser accepts cookies. This contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
- When you log in, we set up cookies to save your login details and screen preferences. Login cookies last two days, screen preferences cookies last a year. If “Remember Me” is selected, login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
- Editing or publishing an article stores an additional cookie indicating the post ID, which expires after one day.

Articles may contain embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles) that behaves as if you visited the original website. These websites may collect data, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor interactions, including if you have an account and are logged in.

- Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely for automatic approval of follow-ups.
- For registered users, we store personal information provided in their profile. Users can view, edit, or delete personal information (except usernames). Website administrators can also access and modify this data.

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of your personal data. You can also request data deletion, except for information required for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
